Just back from a glorious two days in Oban (weather not glorious) for the consecration of my dear friend Bishop Kevin. Lots to report on the jaunt but no time yet as parish duties call. However, here are some photos to keep you going. (I’m afraid my new camera does not take good photos and they are not the best quality but you’ll get the gist.)
the one of you and all the bishops is fabulous. (and they’re all fun)
Great pics! Glad you had such fun.
Hi! Those are lovely photos, but if you don’t mind me beeing a bit cheeky I need to correct something…. Bishop Antje is in deed a bishop IN Sweden, but not the bishop OF Sweden. She is bishop in our southern-most diocese, the diocese of Lund…..we have 13 more bishops in Sweden 🙂
All the best,
Petter
Thank you Petter for the correction. You are quite right. I didn’t have the details to hand.
What a lovely Bishop she is too. And I think she enjoyed the ceilidh dancing as well.
I think it’s been a while since +Mark was referred to as choir or a server!
That’s what happens when you try to post photos, print pew sheets, write sermons and organise things for tomorrow all at the same time. Oops. +Mark was the preacher – a very good preacher, as it happens.
Ruth looking at you with those bishops, you fitted in so well, I thought to myself, what with Ruth’s calling to wear purple its only right you should be next… a bit disapointed +Kevin did not wear a kilt, Scotch Corner do a lovely one called ‘Pride of Scotland’ which is the right shades of purple…. I wear it for solo piping…. looks a treat..
“Pride of Scotland” – away with you! There is a perfectly legitimate Scottish Episcopal clergy tartan he can wear, rather than some concoction made up for the benefit of clueless Americans:-)
here’s a link to the clergy tartan: http://www.scottish-tartans-world-register.com/tartan.aspx?record=246
Sister Therese, we did mention a kilt to him but he refused. Then we hoped for gaiters but so far none in evidence. We live in hope. Tartan gaiters?
Is that Father Kelvin in the fourth photo down?
No, Bishop Kevin. You have to be careful now that you don’t mix up your Kelvins and Kevins.
No. I’m referring to the other person in the photo. Kelvin wrote on his blog that he enjoyed a few twirls round the dance floor at the after-do party.
No, the other person is Bishop Kevin’s wife. There are photos of Kelvin dancing but not for public consumption.
Ah! The other person is wearing a dress. My bad. I thought it was something out of the provost’s liturgical vestments wardrobe. I’m sure you’ll agree – an easy mistake to make.
Oh, and one more thing. OCICBW… will pay good money for photos not for public consumption and we always protect our sources 🙂
Thank you Ruth and others. What a wonderful feeling to have +Kevin as the new Bishop…. A fine man and fine priest. Martin [Shaw]
