I’ve known Fr Kevin for almost 20 years (is it really so long?) firstly through Cursillo when he was the priest at St Salvador’s and then when he was my parish priest at St Michael and All Saints. In that time I think I have got to know some of the real Fr Kevin – a wonderful priest and pastor who is always there for me, and others, in need. Often the clown, you might think that that is all there is to Fr K, but you couldn’t be further from the truth. This is a priest who will wash your kitchen floor, or visit you late at night in hospital without asking. Being the Provincial Director of Ordinands makes you rather unpopular at times especially with some who have not been successful in their quest for ordination, but he is passionate about priesthood and ministry and not least the Scottish Episcopal Church.
I am delighted to hear today that he is to be consecrated Bishop of Argyll and the Isles. He knows and loves the diocese well, having spent much time visiting little flocks exploring different models of ministry. I have no doubt that he is the right man for the job.
