On Monday the Dean and I set off from Edinburgh to drive across country, coast to coast, for the institution of Fr Gordon at St Columba’s Largs. It was a long drive but allowed us to catch up and set the SEC to rights, as you do. We even had time for a quick snack in Nardini’s, along with some grey-haired ones playing bingo.
What a lovely wee church St Columba’s is. The only thing I’d want to change would be the east-facing altar. Lovely service but not sure why the choir waited in silence all the way through the clear-up before they began to sing their anthem. Good to catch up with friends from the west after.
Lovely Rectory which I didn’t get a chance to explore but it looks like they have a good plant, with hall and meeting room, and a garden to the beach with views of Arran. I’m sure Fr G will be very happy there.
