Synod and stuff

We walked out of the cathedral after the opening Synod eucharist and felt the warm air on our faces. Yes, it was baltic once more in our mother church last night. The Church of Scotland, in which we meet, on the other hand, was toasty warm. Those Presbies sure value their congregations. And what was that first hymn and why did noboby know it?

Our October synod is really about money so I didn’t expect any excitement. However there were some there who really wanted to talk Covenant despite the Bishop’s previous suggestion that it be talked in Area Councils, congregations and by individual comment. But no, it seems that St C by the C wanted to discuss it now. We are now going to have an evening of explanation for those who are struggling to understand it (Mon 10 Nov venue tba). But the best way to have your voice heard is to go along to an Area Council discussion. St C by the C already have organised one on Sat 8 November from 10 to 12noon at St Barnabas Moredun and I’m sure everyone is welcome.

And the good news is that Morag Buxel has another 3 years as Diocesan Youth officer. Great news indeed.

  1. To adapt the words of the Monty Python sketch:

“It’s passed on! This Covenant is no more! It has ceased to be! It’s expired and gone to meet its Maker! It’s a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! It’s pushing up the daisies! Its metabolic processes are now history! It’s off the twig! It’s kicked the bucket, it’s shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-COVENANT!!!”
